accd to work by Adele Dennis Lockhart, 1966... the Adkins family (Mary Adkins marr. Hugh Creighton) moved from Lunenberg Co VA to Newberry Co SC--
Newberry SC is where the will of Hugh Creighton was-which named his dau, Ann, his wife, Mary, and grandson and granddaughter, Joel and Mary Dennis-children of his dau Ann Dennis. She also found here, deeds executed by John Dennis and his wife Ann.
In the Hugh Creighton will- his dau Mary listed as married to a Ward: p. 156 of Vol X: 1786 Tax returns: Ward, William 100 acres of land paid


It would appear from this work that the names Adkins, Dennis and Creighton (might have been spelled Cureton) were all in early VA--bef 1763--which was when John Adkins will was probated -- he being the father of Mary Adkins who marr Hugh Creighton--appears from the will that Mary and Hugh were already married. 		Mary Adkins
